PLAYERS COALITION AWARDS $50,000 TO 1 MILLION MADLY MOTIVATED MOMS AS PART OF THEIR INVESTMENT IN PUBLIC SAFETY AND REDUCING POLICE VIOLENCE
(LAS VEGAS , NV) — Players Coalition, a nonprofit founded by former NFL players Anquan Boldin and Malcolm Jenkins that is dedicated to making an impact on social justice and racial equality, awarded $50,000 to 1 Million Madly Motivated Moms (1M4), a nonprofit founded, fueled, and empowered by Black moms and maternal figures, who welcome the support of allies from all diverse backgrounds. 1M4 aims to create a safer and more just society by ending police violence and greatly reducing harm in the Black community through prevention-focused strategies that prioritize mental wellness and personal safety.
This grant is awarded as part of Players Coalition’s on-going commitment to partnering with organizations who are focused on reducing police violence while still supporting public safety and emphasizing mental health support. “Supporting partners with converging objectives across community groups and grassroots organizers, Players Coalition is strategically aligning resources to support local efforts and leveraging our platform to advocate for systemic change,” said Anquan Boldin, Former NFL Player & Players Coalition Co-founder. “This $50,000 grant to 1M4 will support the complete update of their National Mobile Crisis Units & Community Response Resource Guide, including adding new units, capturing stories and experiences, tracking metrics and impact, and the development of a campaign to market and promote the guide.”
One of 1M4’s resources is a Mobile Crisis Units & Community Response Resource Guide. These response teams have targeted training to de-escalate and properly assess individuals experiencing mental health crises and are better suited to evaluate and address these health conditions compared to law enforcement officials. This guide by 1M4 includes information on mobile crisis, community response and co-response teams across the United States, and is updated as they actively compile information.
“The moms of 1M4 are grateful for the support of Players Coalition,” said Tansy McNulty, Founder & CEO of 1M4. “This grant will help us transform and expand our nation’s views on who responds to emergencies so harm can be reduced in communities that have felt the brunt of excessive force and officer violence. With this funding from Players Coalition we will reach more people with lifesaving resources and share the stories of how care-centered, health responses reduce harm.”
Players Coalition and 1M4 recognize that police violence disproportionately affects the Black community, causing harm and trauma. This violence is often perpetuated by a lack of accountability for officers and elected officials, and a reliance on reactive measures rather than prevention-focused strategies. With this grant, the mission of 1M4 to end police violence by 2038 and greatly reduce harm in the Black community can continue to prosper.
